Strong Brisbane

I’m Leigh Shaw, owner of Strong Brisbane.

Strength training and strength sports have been my world for close to two decades. Over that time, I’ve competed, coached, and worked alongside athletes at every level - from people touching a barbell for the very first time to athletes competing on the world stage.

After training in gyms across Australia and internationally, I kept noticing the same gap: plenty of places to train, but very few that truly support beginners and provide the equipment, coaching, and environment required for serious strength training.

So I decided to build the gym I always wished existed, right here on Brisbane’s Southside.

Strong Brisbane is built on a strength-first philosophy. We prioritise coaching, structured progression, and community over trends, quick fixes, and crowded commercial gym floors. It’s a place where people are taught how to train properly, backed to work hard, and supported for the long haul.

Whether you’re chasing your first deadlift, a new personal best, or preparing for competition, my goal is simple: to help you get stronger, safely, confidently, and consistently.
